I have had the honor of giving birth to 3 amazing young men. Yes, they were given life through me, but I was also given life through them. Through them the LORD demonstrated his unconditional love, patience, and healing power. Their success has shown me how GOD blesses his people. My oldest (to my left) is a successful singer, song writer, producer and musician. My second oldest (far right end) is an NFL, CFL, and Collegiate athletic trainer specializing in Defensive Backs. My youngest (in the middle) is one of the best Defensive Backs in the NFL currently playing for the Chicago Bears.
At 51 I was blessed to become the grandmother of this engergetic, beautiful, smart as whip baby girl. She makes my heart smile and I swear the sun shines brighter when my "Gammy Girl" is around.
I hold this photo close to my heart because it’s the only one I allowed anyone to capture during the two years I spent in a wheelchair. It stands as a powerful reminder of all the times doctors said I’d never walk again. I remember the shame I felt about my appearance, the helplessness that weighed on me, and the string of discouraging reports I received. Adding to it all, I was going through a painful divorce. But through it all, the LORD sustained me, showing me that with Him, anything is possible, and that greater is He who is within me than he who is in the world. I am no longer the woman in that wheelchair. I chose to believe my GOD when He declared, "It is Time to ARISE." again. Ashamed of my appearance, feeling helpless, receiving one bad doctors report after another all while going through a brutal divorce the LORD kept me. He showed me that with him all things are possible and greater is he that is within me than he that is in the world. I am no longer the woman that was in that wheelchair. I decided to believe my GOD when he said, "It is Time to ARISE".
THE ARISE TEAM
I had the honor of being the host and panelist for the OMBI Group NFL luncheon. The mission was to equip NFL draft families with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate successfully through the draft and rookie process.
This awe-inspiring event was filled with splendor and dynamic women. As the hostess and speaker of the evening I honored to present and encourage the award recipients, the honoree, CTI Environmental staff, and guest. It was truly a night to remember.
These beautiful young ladies allowed me to speak to into their lives during my visit to Johannesburg South Africa. I shared with them the empowering effects of education, perseverance, and overcoming challenges. They shared with me some of the struggles and joys of growing up as a Zulu girl in Soweto, South Africa.
Now more than ever it is vital for teens, our leaders of tomorrow to ARISE to their Greatness. In this transformative keynote I shared with the attendees how to find their greatness, the importance of making the conscious decision to choose greatness and how to ARISE above peer pressure to dim their light.
